Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana mashed
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup melted butter cooled
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, mash the ripe banana until smooth. Add the sugar and melted butter, stirring until well combined.

Step 3: Combine the Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

Step 4: Form the Dough

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies dense.

Step 5: Scoop the Cookies

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 6: Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use Ripe Bananas: The riper the banana, the sweeter and more flavorful your cookies will be. Look for bananas with lots of brown spots.
  • Don’t Overmix: Stir the ingredients until just combined to keep the cookies soft and tender.
  • Customize Your Cookies: Add a handful of chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or dried fruit to the dough for a fun twist.
  • Chill the Dough (Optional): If the dough feels too soft, chill it in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to make it easier to scoop.
