Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.

Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 3: Shape the Cookies

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 4: Bake the Cookies

  • Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden. The cookies should remain pale in color to resemble snow. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 5: Dust with Powdered Sugar

  • Once the cookies have cooled, dust them generously with powdered sugar to give them their "snowy" appearance. You can add more powdered sugar if you like a thicker coating.

Notes

  • Soft Butter is Key: Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature before mixing, as this helps create a smooth, creamy dough.
  • Don’t Overbake: These cookies should remain soft, so be sure to take them out of the oven once the edges just start to turn golden. They should still be pale in color.
  • Add a Festive Twist: For a holiday twist, add a drop of almond extract or lemon zest to the dough, or roll the cookies in colored sugar sprinkles before baking.
