Ingredients

For the Noodles:

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti as a substitute
  • ½ lb beef thinly sliced (sirloin or flank steak works well)
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup carrots julienned

For the Sauce (Optional):

  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Noodles

  • Boil the lo mein noodles in a large pot of salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Toss the cooked noodles with a splash of sesame oil to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Prepare the Beef

  • In a medium bowl, toss the sliced beef with the hoisin sauce and let it marinate while you prep the vegetables.
  • Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of oil and sear the beef in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3: Sauté the Vegetables

  • In the same skillet, add the julienned carrots and cook for 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, being careful not to burn it.

Step 4: Combine the Ingredients

  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet, along with the noodles.
  • Add the optional sauce (soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil) if you want to enhance the flavor. Toss everything together until well coated and heated through.

Step 5: Serve and Garnish

  • Transfer the noodles to serving bowls and garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy the bold, garlicky goodness!

Notes

  • Slice Beef Thinly: Cutting the beef against the grain into thin slices ensures it stays tender and cooks quickly.
  • Prep Ahead: Have all your ingredients prepped and ready to go since the cooking process moves fast.
  • Use High Heat: A hot skillet helps sear the beef and veggies, giving them that delicious, caramelized flavor.
  • Customize Vegetables: Add bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas to make the dish even more
